bookRunning to Learn
The highs and lows of an international running career

Running to Learn tells the compelling story of Julia, an international marathon runner – her struggle to reach peak performance, her battle with an eating disorder and the challenges of her personal relationships.

Through the many highs and lows of her life, Julia discovers the skills necessary to perform at the top level and learns how to manage herself effectively in times of difficulty or triumph. Written with openness, that can at times be startling, everyone who reads this book will identify with it on some level – a controlling relationship, a fear of abandonment or a desire to please.

Authors and fans having fun together!

A delightful informal gathering of like-minded crime fanatics...

One of the most delightful aspects of the Harrogate Crime Writers Festival, and something that often surprises first time visitors, is the informal nature of the event. Authors and fans alike gather in the bars and public areas and the authors themselves are often in the front row of events - showing their credentials as true fans!

On Saturday evening there is a quiz night, attended by teams of fans eager to show their knowledge of the crime genre. This year, Chris Simmons, our Online Editor, was part of the winning team (ironically titled, "And the losers are..."!) which included Paul Blezard, Simon Kernick, Richard Burke, Fiona Cane and John Rickards. Scoring a brilliant 79 out of 100, the team collected a silver cup and each won special hardback editions of Agatha Christie books, courtesy of quiz sponsor Harper Collins.
